A grooming table is the better tool for full haircuts, larger dogs and professional use. A grooming hammock on a foldable stand is the better fit for small dogs and cats when you need free paws for nail trims, ear cleaning, brushing, paw wiping or a quick rinse at home, and want something that folds flat afterwards.
The Pawsling hammock is for small dogs and cats only; medium and large dogs belong on a table.
Never leave your pet unattended in the hammock.

When does a grooming table win?
- You clip or scissor your dog's whole coat at home and need the body accessible from every side.
- Your dog is a medium or large breed.
- You groom several dogs, or groom professionally.
- Your dog needs to stand and turn for drying and finishing.
When does a grooming hammock win?
- Your small dog or cat slips, wriggles or walks off during nail trims.
- You mainly trim nails, clean ears, brush, trim around the paws and face, or wipe paws after walks.
- You want to bathe a small dog without bending over the tub; see the pet bath stand guide.
- You don't have room to leave a table set up. The Pawsling stand folds flat.
- You don't want to drill a door frame or clamp an arm to furniture: the Pawsling stand is freestanding.
What's the difference between a hammock, a nail-trimming harness and a grooming arm?
- Grooming hammock on a stand: the sling carries the pet's weight under the body, and the stand stands on the floor.
- Nail-trimming harness: straps around the body that hold a dog in place on a table or floor. The paws still carry weight.
- Grooming arm (clamp-on): a post that clamps to a table and holds a loop or a hanging sling. It needs a table or sturdy edge to clamp to.
Why do groomers worry about neck loops?
Grooming tables are often used with a loop from the grooming arm around the dog's neck. A patent for a safer grooming restraint describes the risk plainly: if the animal jumps or is pushed off the table while restrained by the noose, injury "is almost certain" (US patent 4041905). This is why groomers use quick-release and under-the-front-legs loops (Groomer to Groomer, Feb 2024). A hammock works differently: the sling supports the body from underneath. That does not make it risk-free, and a pet should never be left alone on a table or in a hammock. See is a grooming hammock safe?
Which should you buy?

- Any dog that needs full haircuts at home: a grooming table. You can still use a hammock for nail day.

Frequently asked questions
Is a grooming hammock better than a grooming table?
They suit different jobs. A table is better for full haircuts, larger dogs and all-over grooming. A hammock on a stand is better for nail trims, brushing, ear care and quick baths on small dogs and cats, and it folds flat.
Can I use a grooming hammock and a grooming table together?
Yes. Many owners use a table for coat work and a hammock for nail day. They are separate tools, so you don't need one to use the other.
Can I bathe my dog on a grooming hammock stand?
For small dogs, yes. Set the stand in a bathtub, shower or outdoors; the mesh bed lets water drain and lifts your dog so you don't bend over the tub. Rinse the hammock and let it air-dry afterwards.
What is the difference between a grooming hammock and a nail-trimming harness?
A harness holds the dog in place while its paws stay on the table or floor. A hammock lifts the pet in a sling so the paws hang free and are easier to reach.
Do I need a grooming arm with a hammock stand?
No. A freestanding hammock stand holds the sling on its own frame, so it doesn't need a table, a clamp or a door frame.
Can a large dog use the Pawsling hammock?
No. It is made for small dogs and cats only. Medium and large dogs should use a grooming table.
