Check fit, not just weight. The Pawsling grooming hammock is one size, about 60 cm (about 24 in) wide, made for cats and small dogs; measure your pet's chest girth, body length and leg spacing, and if you are unsure, email the numbers to support@pawsling.com before you order.
Medium and large dogs should use a grooming table instead.
Never leave your pet unattended in the hammock.
What do we know about the hammock's size?
- One size, about 60 cm (about 24 in) wide.
- Breathable mesh bed with leg holes.
- Grade 201 stainless steel frame, 19 mm (3/4 in) tubes, with folding X-legs; folds flat.
- Black fixing strap included; same height in all three colours.
- Shipping box about 56 × 8.5 × 8.5 cm (about 22 × 3.3 × 3.3 in), about 0.7 kg (about 1.5 lb).
- For cats and small dogs.
The manufacturer states a maximum load of 15 kg (33 lb). We haven't load-tested it ourselves yet, so we don't publish our own weight limit or a height. We'd rather tell you that than print a number we can't stand behind.
How do you measure your pet for a grooming hammock?
You need a soft tape measure and, ideally, a helper with a treat. Measure with your pet standing on all four legs.
- Weight: weigh yourself holding your pet, then subtract your own weight.
- Chest girth: around the widest part of the rib cage, just behind the front legs. Keep the tape snug, not tight.
- Body length: along the spine, from the base of the neck to the base of the tail.
- Leg spacing: along the belly side, from the back of the front legs to the front of the back legs. This tells you whether your pet's legs will line up with the front and rear leg holes.
- Leg thickness (optional): around the thickest part of a back thigh.
Chest girth and body length are the standard measuring points used for dog gear (PetMD: how to measure your dog, AKC: measure dog gear). Hammock sellers commonly size by the spacing between the front and rear leg holes, which is why leg spacing matters as much as weight. No hammock-specific sizing standard exists.
What if you're not sure your pet fits?
Email support@pawsling.com with your pet's weight, chest girth, body length and leg spacing before you order. We'll answer honestly, and if it isn't the right tool we'll say so. Some buyers of other hammocks report that leg holes get tight on stocky dogs or dogs with thicker legs (source), so mention it if your dog is stocky.
Which breeds do people ask about?
Breed is a starting point, not a size. Two dogs of the same breed can differ a lot, so always measure.
- Toy breeds (Chihuahua, Yorkshire Terrier, Pomeranian): check that very small legs line up with the leg holes and don't slip through.
- Shih Tzu, Maltese, Toy Poodle: measure under the coat, not over it.
- Dachshunds and other long-backed dogs: body length matters more than weight, so send us the length if you're unsure.
- French Bulldogs and other stocky dogs: chest girth and thigh width are the usual limits.
- Cats: most cats are small enough, but large, long cats need a length check. See the cat grooming hammock page.
Senior pets and pets with joint problems
If your pet is older, has arthritis, back problems or has had recent surgery, ask your vet before using any grooming hammock. Lift them in gently, keep sessions very short and stop if they seem uncomfortable.

Frequently asked questions
How do I measure my dog for a grooming hammock?
With your dog standing, measure weight, chest girth around the widest part of the rib cage just behind the front legs, body length along the spine from the base of the neck to the base of the tail, and leg spacing from the back of the front legs to the front of the back legs.
Is weight enough to choose a grooming hammock?
No. Check fit, not just weight. A light dog can still be too long for the bed or have legs that don't line up with the leg holes, so measure body length and leg spacing too.
How big is the Pawsling grooming hammock?
It is one size, about 60 cm (about 24 in) wide, with a mesh bed with leg holes on a folding stainless steel X-leg stand. It ships in a box of about 56 × 8.5 × 8.5 cm weighing about 0.7 kg.
What is the weight limit of the Pawsling hammock?
The manufacturer states a maximum load of 15 kg (33 lb), but we haven't load-tested it ourselves yet, so we don't publish our own weight limit. It is made for cats and small dogs only. If you are unsure, email support@pawsling.com with your pet's measurements before you order.
Does the hammock fit long-backed dogs like dachshunds?
For long-backed dogs, body length is usually the limit before weight. Measure from the base of the neck to the base of the tail and email support@pawsling.com if you are unsure.
Is it suitable for medium or large dogs?
No. The Pawsling hammock is made for small dogs and cats only. Medium and large dogs should use a grooming table.
